Lead Sport. Earn Money. Boost Your Career.

Are you a university student looking for a meaningful, exciting role this spring?
Do you love sports? Enjoy working with kids? Want real leadership experience that looks great on a résumé?

If yes — we’d love to meet you.

The Nova Scotia Minor Ball Hockey League (NSMBHL) is growing fast, and we’re building a team of energetic, reliable League Managers to help us deliver the best minor sport experience in Nova Scotia.

This is not retail.
This is not fast food.
This is leadership in sport.

Come join a team where your ideas matter, your effort is noticed, and your leadership makes a real impact.

Position: League Manager

Season: Mid-April to Mid-July 2026
Hours: 20–35 hours/week
Salary: $17.50 per hour
Location: Metro Halifax (with opportunities for growth in Sydney, Pictou, Truro, Kentville, and Digby)

What You’ll Do

As a League Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our spring ball hockey season. You will:

  • Lead game-day operations for your assigned league

  • Serve as a Senior Official, helping keep play safe and fun

  • Support and guide coaches

  • Manage equipment and facility setup

  • Welcome players and parents and represent the league with professionalism

  • Help new players learn and enjoy ball hockey

  • Keep the league running smoothly, efficiently, and safely

This role offers real responsibility — and the support to help you succeed.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re building a team of driven student leaders who:

  • Love sport and being part of a team

  • Enjoy teaching, encouraging, and supporting kids

  • Take pride in doing quality work

  • Show up on time and follow through

  • Can lead confidently but work well with others

  • Want practical leadership experience with real accountability

  • Are looking for a role that builds skills and opens doors

Students studying Education, Kinesiology, Recreation, Sport Management, or Business tend to thrive in this role — but all backgrounds are welcome.

If you’re enthusiastic, responsible, and ready to lead, we want to hear from you.

Why This Job Matters

The NSMBHL began as a small community program and has grown into one of the fastest-expanding youth sport experiences in the province. Hundreds of players participate each season — many stepping into ball hockey for the first time.

As a League Manager, you help shape that experience.
You create a safe, positive, energetic environment where kids learn, grow, and fall in love with sport.

And you build your own career along the way:

  • Leadership

  • Communication

  • Time management

  • Team coordination

  • Event operations

  • Problem solving

  • Sport administration

These are skills employers value everywhere.

Schedule & Commitment

League Managers must be available:

  • Weekends (both Saturday and Sunday)

  • Some weekday evenings

  • For pre-season training in early April

  • From mid-April to mid-July

Weekdays are mostly free for summer courses, part-time jobs, or to sit back and relax.
